Installing a PSD file in Photoshop.

This actions has been tested and working on Photoshop  CS4,CS5,CS6,CC+

Please check: 

1. Your photo is in RGB color mode.

2. Your photo is in 8bit color mode.

3. If you are experiencing errors, try resetting your Photoshop preferences. To do this,

hold down Alt, Ctrl, and Shift keys (Mac: Command, Option, Shift) while starting up Photoshop. 

A dialog box will appear asking if you wish to delete the preferences/settings file.  

Creating a Pencil Sketch Photo Effect using a Photoshop Action can be a fun and creative way to transform your photos into artistic pencil sketches. Photoshop Actions are a series of recorded steps that can be applied to an image with just a click, streamlining the process and saving you time. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to make a Pencil Sketch Photo Effect with a Photoshop Action:

Step 1: Open Your Image

Open Adobe Photoshop and load the image you want to apply the pencil sketch effect to.

Step 2: Duplicate the Background Layer

In the Layers panel, right-click on the Background layer and choose "Duplicate Layer." This ensures you have a copy to work on, preserving the original image.

Step 3: Desaturate the Image

With the duplicated layer selected, go to "Image" > "Adjustments" > "Desaturate" (or press Ctrl+Shift+U). This removes the color from the image, creating a grayscale version.

Step 4: Increase Contrast (Optional)

Enhance the pencil sketch effect by increasing the image contrast. You can do this by navigating to "Image" > "Adjustments" > "Brightness/Contrast" and adjusting the contrast slider to your liking.

Step 5: Apply a Gaussian Blur

Go to "Filter" > "Blur" > "Gaussian Blur." Apply a small amount of blur to smooth out details and make the sketch look more authentic. Experiment with the radius until you achieve the desired effect.

Step 6: Create a New Layer

Create a new layer above the blurred layer. This will be the layer where the sketch effect is applied.

Step 7: Load the Brush Tool

Select the Brush Tool (B) and choose a soft, round brush with low hardness. Adjust the brush size based on the level of detail you want in your sketch.

Step 8: Set Foreground Color to Black

Ensure that your foreground color is set to black.

Step 9: Apply the Sketch Effect

Begin painting over the image on the new layer with the black brush. Use short, controlled strokes to mimic the texture of a pencil sketch. Focus on outlining prominent features and emphasizing details.

Step 10: Create a Photoshop Action

Once you're satisfied with the sketch effect on one image, you can record the steps as a Photoshop Action. Open the Actions panel (Window > Actions), click "New Action," give it a name, and start recording. Perform all the steps you just did, then stop the recording.

Step 11: Apply the Action to Other Images

Now, you can apply the created Photoshop Action to other images. Open the image, select the Action in the Actions panel, and click "Play." The action will automatically apply the pencil sketch effect to the new image.

Experiment with different settings and brush sizes to achieve various pencil sketch styles. Photoshop Actions are a powerful tool for automating repetitive tasks and ensuring consistency across multiple images.
